Restaurants within Walking Distance

There are several great restaurants within walking distance of The Chautauqua, unlike Vilano or Cresent beach where you are pretty isolated. Just 2 doors down on the Ocean is the Beachcomber. Best Fish Taco in the world.  At the end of the street are 4 restaurants. One is BQ with live music and a swimming pool for the children. Mango is upscale. Plus an inexpensive Mexican and Vegitarian in the Surf Shop.
A short few block drive in the car gives an almost endless list. Sunset Grill is my favorite.  Try the Tuna in Wasabi.  Amazing. There is the Oasis, a famous Sports Bar. The Conch House, with live music outside and boat rentals on the Intracoastal. Cafe 11 for has gourmet coffee to go and live music (sometimes w/cover charge). Too many to list and all wonderful.
There is no need to drive to St Augustine for dinner but you should do it one night. Taxi service makes it fun and convenient.

You can also walk to the Pier.  Just up from Cafe 11. They have a New SPLASH PARK the kids will love. A huge Beach Volley ball area. FREE CONCERTS on Wednesday nights in the Summer. It is a  real "happening".  Take your chairs and a picnic. Check the dates for the Farmers Market.

Annestasia State Park

Just a few blocks north is a great place to learn Windsurfing. Amazing fun. You can rent small Boats and Bike on the sand. Wedding facilities also.

YMCA for Pool or Gym

Just a few blocks away on Pope is a charming YMCA with POOL and Workout facilities.  If you are not a member, you can join by the day or the week.

There are nail salons and health spas within walking distance.  Always fun on vacation.

Alligator Farm

Minutes away is actually very well done and fun for all ages.

Miniature Golf and Bowing

Both right on the Island to entertain the kid if they need a distraction.

Great Deep Sea Fishing

There is Fishing right out your front door.  Bring your poles.  DEEP SEA Fishing charters and INTRACOASTAL boat rentals also available. You can even rent a Sail Boat and sail the sea.  Call for recommendations.

You would not believe the new kites.  You can use them on the water with the surf board or on the land with the skate boards.  But you really have to be good to do that.

Historic St Augustine

The list is endless.  Best to check the web. Horse drawn Carriage rides – Haunted House tours -  Historic sites like Castillo de San Marco and the Oldest School. Great restaurants and wonderful music.

St Ausutine has a great Amphitheatre with big names. Lots of Oldies. Why not book your tickets and plan a Beach Reunion with you old friends. You will always be glad you did.

St Augustine has some very reasonably price shops.  Many clustered together. Great for browsing.

Outlet Malls

Unlimited shopping all sides of the intersection of I-95 & SR 16. Just 10 minutes from The Chautauqua.

There are a few local courses at very reasonable rates or World Golf Village and Ponte Vedra's TPC are only about 30 minutes away.

Old Florida the way it used to be.  Not flashy but great fun for the kids and close.

Makes a nice day trip.

Area Restaurants

Collage - A new addition to the St. Augustine dining scene is Collage Restaurant.  In the location of the former La Parisienne restaurant, Mike Hyatt and Cindy Stangby have transformed this quaint French restaurant into a world class dining establishment.  After taking over the restaurant in September of 2006, they have upgraded the menu by including dishes from all over the world.  In February of 2007 it was time to make the name change to Collage – artful global dining.   The menu has an eclectic flavor with emphasis on fresh local seafood, steaks and much more.  You never know what country will be represented but you can be assured that the ingredients are fresh and well prepared.  So if you are in the mood for something new and different, stop in and let their professional staff treat you to a meal that is out of this world or at least from a small part of it.
